Back up a WordPress Multisite network

Backvera fully supports WordPress Multisite. You connect the whole network once, and it is protected as a single site in your dashboard – while still letting you work with any individual subsite.

Connect a network

On a multisite network, pairing is done once at the network level, in Network Admin > Settings > Backvera. One connection covers every subsite – there is nothing to set up per subsite. See pair your site with a connection key. Multisite support is included on the Business and Scale plans – see plans.

One site, every subsite

The network appears as a single site in Backvera, and every snapshot captures the whole network – all subsites, their shared plugins and themes, the uploads, and the database. The site’s Network tab shows the network inventory and lists every subsite, so you can see what is included at a glance.

Back up and restore the whole network

Backing up, scheduling, and restoring a network work just like any other site – use Backup now, set a schedule, or restore to an earlier point in time. Restoring the network puts every subsite back to the chosen moment. See how backups work and restore your site.

Work with a single subsite

From the Network tab you can act on one subsite at a time:

  • Download a subsite. Get one subsite as a ZIP – either a verbatim copy of that subsite’s files and data, or a ready-to-deploy export that has been rewritten to run as its own standalone WordPress install. See download a backup as a ZIP.
  • Restore or clone a subsite. Restore a single subsite in place, or clone it out as its own standalone site on a new domain or host. See clone or migrate a site and restore specific files or tables.

When you split a subsite into a standalone site, Backvera makes it work on its own: it carries over your network administrators so you can log in, switches the network rules for standard single-site ones, fixes media links, and resets permalinks.

Good to know

Pairing, settings, and uninstalling are all network-wide – do them from Network Admin, not from an individual subsite.
