We could not reach the plugin with this key – pairing errors

When you pair manually, Backvera tests the connection key by probing your site. If the test fails, the reason points to the fix.

What each reason means

  • Plugin missing – the Backvera plugin is not installed or active. Install and activate it, then try again.
  • Plugin not connected – the plugin is active but has no key saved. Open Settings > Backvera and paste the key.
  • Key mismatch – the dashboard key and the plugin key differ. Copy the key shown in the plugin settings into the dashboard and try again.
  • Cannot reach the site – the probe could not reach your site. Confirm the site is online and reachable from the public internet; firewalls, basic-auth, and IP allowlists block this probe.
  • Invalid site URL – the URL on file is wrong. Go back to step 1 of the wizard and correct it.

If you cannot finish now, choose I’ll connect later to keep the site as a draft and resume from the dashboard.
