Fixing one-click install failures

One-click install signs in to your WordPress admin and installs the plugin for you. If it cannot complete, Backvera tells you why. Here is what each message means and what to do.

Common causes and fixes

  • CAPTCHA detected – your login page has a CAPTCHA the automated sign-in cannot solve. Use the ZIP or WP-CLI method.
  • Two-factor detected – the admin account has two-factor authentication. Use the ZIP or WP-CLI method, or an admin account without 2FA.
  • Login failed – WordPress did not accept that username and password. Double-check them and try again.
  • wp-admin blocked – a firewall, IP allowlist, or security plugin is blocking /wp-admin/. Use the ZIP or WP-CLI method.
  • Upload rejected – WordPress refused the plugin upload (often file permissions or a security plugin). Use the ZIP or WP-CLI method.
  • Activation failed – the plugin uploaded but did not activate. Activate it manually under Plugins.
  • Already installed – the plugin is already active. Pair it manually with your connection key.

Other ways to install: download the ZIP, use WP-CLI, or pair manually with a connection key.
